Am I the only one who dropped $300 on a fancy code reader that just gave me a headache?
Bought a high-end scanner to figure out a weird misfire on a 2015 F-150, and all it gave me was a generic P0300 code I already knew. It couldn't even show me live data for the specific cylinder, so I ended up doing the old-school swap test anyway. What's a tool you bought that promised to save time but just made more work?

Read a forum post about that exact scanner, same issue.

Was it that big thread on the tech help board? I saw that one too. The person said they tried EVERY fix the company suggested and it still wouldn't connect right. It seems like a known software bug that they just haven't fixed yet. Honestly it made me give up on buying that model completely. Reading that felt like a huge warning sign to stay away.

Yeah that "known software bug they just haven't fixed" line is the whole story now. It feels like everything from apps to kitchen gadgets ships half finished. We're all paying to be their beta testers, and the fix is always coming in the next update that never really works. It just makes you miss when a tool was just a tool that did its job right out of the box.
