Finally got a 2007 Civic's power steering pump to stop whining without replacing it

The car came in with a loud groan at full lock, and the fluid looked clean. I tried the old trick of turning the wheel lock to lock with the front end lifted, but that only helped for a day. On a hunch, I hooked up my vacuum pump to the reservoir for about five minutes to pull out any trapped air. The noise is completely gone now, and the customer was happy to save the cost of a new pump. Has anyone else had luck with this on Hondas from that era?

Wow, you made a whole thing out of just some air in the line?

Wait, you think it's just air? Did you see the pressure drop on the second gauge?

Yeah, bleeding the line fixed it for me last week. Vera_campbell is right to check that second gauge.
