Spent $400 on a Snap-On scan tool and it still couldn't read a 2018 Ford van's ABS codes last Tuesday

I bought this thing thinking it would save me hours of diag time. Plugged it into a Transit that had the ABS light on and it gave me a generic communication error. Had to borrow my buddy's Autel that costs half as much and it read everything in 2 minutes. Anyone else had Snap-On stuff let you down on newer vehicles?

Borrowed a Bosch scanner from a neighbor and it pulled those codes in under a minute.

Yeah, but idk if a scan tool finding codes in under a minute is really that impressive. Most modern OBD2 scanners can pull generic codes pretty quickly, and those might just be basic emissions stuff. I'd want to know what the actual codes are before I start stressing about the car.
