Stripped oil pan threads keep coming through the shop
Seen three cars this month alone come in with oil leaks from overtightened drain plugs. People crank them down with a breaker bar and wonder why they strip out. Anyone else just upsizing to a Fumoto valve on these instead of chasing threads?

Why would you want a valve that can get knocked open by road debris?

Yeah no kidding, a solid cap just works better.

Oh dude, YES. I had a mudflap with one of those little rubber drain valves and a rock from a gravel truck hit it and pop it open on the highway. Lost like half my washer fluid before I even noticed. And forget about driving through a construction zone, a chunk of asphalt can take that thing clean off. It's just asking for trouble, especially if you do any off-roading or drive on crappy roads. I swapped mine for a solid cap and never looked back.
