That $300 'professional' brake flush I wish I could get back

Took my 2017 F-150 to a shop in Denver last spring for a brake flush they talked me into. Charged me $300 and said it was 'special equipment' needed. Found out later all they did was run a basic vacuum bleeder for 20 minutes. I could have done that myself with a $30 kit from Harbor Freight and some Dot 4 fluid. Has anyone else had shops push these overpriced fluid services that don't actually do anything special?

I mean, how bad could the old fluid really have been.

Man that old fluid might have turned into pure sludge depending how long it sat. Nobody talks about how heat cycles break down the additives way faster than people expect.
