Torqued a bolt wrong on a 2019 F-150 last week. Big mistake.

Was swapping a lower control arm on a customer's truck. Felt the bolt get tight so I stopped. Turns out I mixed up the torque spec with the upper arm. 45 ft-lbs instead of 85. Wheel almost fell off on the test drive. Customer caught it pulling out of the lot. Had to eat the cost of a new hub and bolt. Anyone else ever mess up a torque spec and pay for it?

Double check everything after that. Saved my butt more than once.

You said "saved my butt more than once" but honestly I've had the opposite experience where double checking everything actually caused more problems than it solved. @danielmason sometimes you just have to trust the process and move on otherwise you get stuck in this loop of second guessing yourself. I wasted a whole day once going back over stuff that was already fine and ended up missing a deadline because of it. Not saying verification is bad but there's a line between being careful and just spinning your wheels.
