Appreciation post: I finally gave the Teton Crest Trail a shot after thinking it was overhyped

I mean, I kept seeing pictures and figured the views were just edited. But last week, I did the 35 mile section from Phillips Pass to Death Canyon. The wildflowers in Alaska Basin were unreal, and the sunset from Hurricane Pass actually made me stop walking for a solid ten minutes. I guess the hype is real. Has anyone else had a trail totally change their mind like that?

Totally get the feeling of being proven wrong by a place. That stretch through Alaska Basin feels like walking through a different world, especially with the paintbrush and lupine everywhere. What was the toughest part of that section for you?

Honestly? The silence. No wind, no bugs, just your own breathing. Gets weird fast.

Remember the wind howling over the pass though.
