I found a way to cross that washed-out creek on the Eagle Rock Loop

Last spring, the usual log crossing on the Little Missouri River section was gone after heavy rain. I was stuck for an hour, trying to find a safe spot. I finally looked at my paper map and saw a small trail spur marked 'old ford' about a quarter mile upstream. It led to a wide, shallow gravel bar that was only knee-deep. Has anyone else found a good workaround for that crossing lately?

That old ford saved my trip last October too. I almost turned back before spotting it on my GPS.

You saying you almost turned back really hits home. I used to be the type who would just cancel a trip if the main road was closed. But last year I got stuck and a local told me about a gravel ford upstream. It was a total game changer, made me realize how many backroad options we miss by just following the map. What did your GPS show for that ford, was it marked as a road or just a trail?
