Talking to a ranger in Yosemite made me question my whole route planning approach

She said 'most folks just follow the same three trails, but the real quiet is a mile off any of them.' I've been sticking to the big names for ages, but maybe it's time to look at the map differently. Anyone have a favorite 'almost there' spot they found by just turning off?

Ever think those quiet spots are quiet because they're just not that good? Sometimes the popular trails are popular for a reason.

Tbh that's how I feel about restaurants too. Popular usually means good.

What makes you think popularity equals quality? Crowds often just follow a trend, not actual value. A quiet spot can be better because it's not ruined yet.
