The 9 mile resupply detour that killed my loop near Bend

I mapped a route off a 2018 post and it sent me 9 miles out of the way for a store that closed in 2021, nobody updates those old trip reports. Have you guys found a reliable way to check if a water cache or shop is still there before you commit to a detour like that?
