Three years ago I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and missed the best part
Last month I was looking at my old GPS tracks from the PCT and realized I skipped a 12-mile stretch near Crater Lake because I was trying to make miles. I went back last weekend and it had these old abandoned mining cabins and a creek crossing that made the whole trip feel new. Has anyone else found a missed section on a route they thought they knew?

Fair trade honestly. Skipping miles for a beer deal is basically trail tradition at this point.

Wait wait. You hiked the whole PCT and just skipped 12 miles?

Twelve miles? Come on, that's basically a rest stop. Probably had a really good sandwich waiting at the trailhead or something. Or maybe they just saw a shady spot and thought "nope, I'm good." I've skipped farther than that just because I forgot my good socks. What's the real story behind those 12 miles, a trail angel with cold beer?
