DAE have a manager who says stuff like 'we're a family' but writes you up for being 4 minutes late?
Last Wednesday my manager Denise pulled me into her office and said we're all family at this company. Then she handed me a write up for being 4 minutes late because my bus got stuck on 5th Street. Family doesn't write you up over 4 minutes. How do you even respond to that without losing your cool?
Notice how "we're a family" always comes from the person who benefits most from you acting like one. It's the same move as a gym that calls you a "member" while charging you to cancel, or a landlord who says "we're like friends" right before keeping your deposit. The word family gets used to make you feel bad for wanting basic respect, and that's the whole trick.
