Finally hit 50 bad movies logged on my Letterboxd list and it changed how I watch stuff
I started a list last January of movies folks say are terrible but I secretly enjoy. After 50 entries, I noticed a pattern: most of them are from 1986 to 1994, which got me thinking about childhood nostalgia. Like, The Lawnmower Man got a 12% on Rotten Tomatoes but the cheesy VR scenes still make me grin every time. Has anyone else noticed their bad movie picks tend to cluster around a certain decade or milestone number?

That 1986-94 window makes total sense. It hits right when your brain was young and impressionable, so those flaws feel like charm instead of failure. The Lawnmower Man's VR stuff is perfect example, those effects were mind-blowing to a kid but look janky now, and that contrast is exactly why we still love them.

Blame it on my childhood brain thinking pixelated CGI was actual sorcery, now I'm just chasing that weird high.
