I actually liked that 'The Happening' movie everyone trashes
I know i know everyone hates M Night's The Happening but I watched it again last week and honestly it's not that bad. The acting is stiff on purpose because the characters are supposed to be in shock. Plus the scene where the guy gets chased by a lawnmower is genuinely creepy. Took me about 2 hours to get past the cheesy dialogue and see what he was going for. Anyone else find a bad movie that clicked after a rewatch?

Wait, did the stiff acting actually work for you or was it just bad?

hayes.jake asked if the stiff acting worked for me or was just bad. Here is the thing. I think it works if you watch it like a B movie from the 50s or 60s. Those old creature features had people delivering lines like robots too because the whole point was the ridiculous premise. Once I stopped expecting a serious thriller and started treating it like a dark comedy with bad acting as a feature, everything clicked. The silly dialogue became part of the charm. I bet if you go into it knowing the actors are purposely playing it wooden to match the shock theme, you will have a MUCH better time.
