Looking back, I chose to defend 'The Room' over 'Birdemic' at our 2010 bad movie night, and that pick defined my whole approach to enjoying films.

I argued that 'The Room's' sincere, baffling heart made it a better watch than 'Birdemic's' cheap effects, and after 14 years, I still think a movie trying to be good but failing is way more interesting than one that just doesn't try at all.

Disagree, Birdemic's pure lack of effort is its own kind of art.

Okay, "lack of effort as art" is a take that makes me feel better about my half-finished craft projects. I've got a blanket with one perfect corner and three sad, fraying edges that could be in a museum.

Totally get what you mean about a movie trying to be good. That's why I'll rewatch a messy, big-hearted flop any day over something lazy. My friends still give me grief for picking "Battlefield Earth" over "Troll 2" that same year.
