The day a stranger at Blockbuster tried to save me from watching 'The Room'
Back in 2005 at a Blockbuster in Portland, this guy in a wrinkled shirt grabbed my arm before I could rent The Room. He said 'You're not ready for this, man, it'll break your brain.' I told him I'd heard it was so bad it was good, and he just sighed. He was right in a way, but I still loved every insane second of that movie. Anyone else ever have a stranger try to talk you out of a cult classic?

Wait, that guy actually grabbed your arm? That's wild.
I mean, I get where he was coming from though. That movie is a whole different kind of experience. It's not just bad, it's like a car crash you can't look away from.
I showed it to my buddy once and he just sat there silent for five minutes after. Then he said 'my brain hurts' and walked out.
The Room is something you gotta work up to. It hits different when you're not ready for it.
But hey, at least you got a good story out of it. And you still loved it, so the guy was half wrong.
