The Notebook is actually a good movie and I'm tired of pretending it's not

Everyone trashes it for being sappy but I watched it last weekend with my girlfriend and the scene where he hangs off the ferris wheel got me choked up. The acting is solid, especially James Garner as the old version of the guy, and the story hits harder when you've been in a long relationship. Has anyone else found a so-called bad movie that actually works for them?

Buddy of mine swore The Mummy (1999) was dumb until his girlfriend made him watch it after they got married. Now he quotes "Hey, Benny" at least once a week and owns the Blu-ray.

The whole "Hey Benny" thing is overplayed honestly. I watched The Mummy for the first time last year and it felt like a generic 90s action movie with some cheap jokes. The CGI on those scarabs looks terrible now, it really takes you out of the experience.
