Remember seeing that film years ago and thinking it was just a disaster, but rewatching it recently changed my mind. The way everything falls apart so completely, from the script to the acting, actually makes it more honest than most movies that try so hard to be perfect. There is something almost freeing about watching something that fails with such total confidence.

Read an interview with the screenwriter a few years back where he said the whole movie was basically a first draft they had to shoot because the studio was rushing to get something out before a tax credit expired. The director apparently fought for more time but got shut down, so they just went with it. That explains a lot about why the scenes feel like they're stitched together from two completely different movies. The part where the main character just walks off set mid-scene with no explanation... turns out the actor literally didn't have any more lines and nobody noticed. Makes you wonder how many so-called "masterpieces" out there are just better at hiding the same kind of chaos.
