Why I actually love 'The Last Airbender' movie
I know everyone hates M. Night's live action version, but I showed it to my 8 year old nephew last week and he was totally into the bending effects. Sure the dialogue is weird, but the visuals got him excited to watch the cartoon afterwards. Anyone else have a bad movie that worked as a gateway to something better?

Wait, you showed that movie to an 8 year old? I'm genuinely shocked it didn't scare him off from the whole franchise. The dialogue in that thing is like nails on a chalkboard for me, especially the way they butchered all the names. But hey, I guess kids see things differently. I can kind of see how the bending effects might look cool to a younger viewer who doesn't care about bad acting or weird pacing. Still, it's wild to think something that terrible actually got a kid interested in the real show. Kudos to your nephew for having better taste than most adults.

Kids really do have a weird filter where they ignore the bad stuff and just latch onto whatever looks cool. My little sister watched that movie too and she thought the earthbending dance moves were hilarious, she kept trying to copy them. Guess it takes a certain kind of brain to appreciate the dumpster fire for what it is.

Kids are weird man. My little cousin loved the scene where they did that big water whip thing even though the rest of us were cringing. I'm with @keithbennett on the name butchering though, saying "Ahng" instead of "Aang" drove me crazy every single time. At least your nephew found the cartoon after, that's the real win here.
