My roommate and I kept leaving each other sticky notes about dirty dishes and trash, but they'd get lost or ignored. After 3 weeks of cold silence and a moldy coffee mug standoff, I bought a small whiteboard for $8 and stuck it on the fridge. We now write one rule per day, like 'unload the dishwasher by 8pm' or 'your pizza box is still on the counter'. It sounds dumb but having it in plain sight means we both see it every time we grab a snack. We also added a 'thank you' corner for when someone actually does the chore, which cut the snark way down. Has anyone else tried a shared visual list instead of texting or notes? I'm curious if it holds up past the first month.
My roommate kept insisting it was the garbage disposal, but I finally pulled the bottom drawer out and found a crushed avocado in the back corner that had basically turned into a biohazard. It took about 20 minutes to clean, which made me mad at myself for not checking sooner. Has anyone else had a mystery smell that turned out to be something embarrassingly simple?
