A bakery in Savannah had their sourdough starter in a clear jar on the counter
I was in Savannah last month and stopped at this little spot called The Crusty Owl. Right by the register, they had a huge glass jar with their sourdough starter, just sitting out. The baker told me it's been going for over 15 years, which is wild. It made me think about how I keep mine hidden in the back fridge, you know, out of sight. Seeing it front and center felt like a real point of pride for them, like showing off a family member. Do you all keep your starters visible, or are you more of a hide-it-in-the-cooler type?

Used to hide mine too, but seeing that jar made me get it, like @black.joel should let his starter feel the sun.

Hide mine? I practically have to keep it in a safe deposit box. My starter is so weak and moody, if it saw sunlight it would probably just give up and turn into vinegar. I keep it buried in the back of the fridge behind the old pickles so it doesn't feel judged by the kombucha.
