Everyone raves about that fancy bakery in Portland but I left with cold pastries
I visited Tabor Bread during my trip to Portland last month and I just don't get the hype. I waited 25 minutes in line and the croissant I got was barely warm, more like room temperature honestly. The texture was good but not worth $6 and a long wait in the rain. I think people get caught up in the vibe of the place instead of judging the actual food. Has anyone else found a famous bakery that just didn't deliver for the price?

I get the line wait being annoying, but "barely warm" is kind of how proper laminated dough is supposed to be served at most places I've been to. Plus $6 for a handmade croissant in Portland is pretty standard these days.

Is it really the norm though, or just what some places get away with?

@logan205 I see it a little different though. A barely warm croissant is just a bad croissant no matter how fancy the dough is, and $6 for something that ain't served right is a ripoff in my book. Places getting away with it doesn't make it the norm, it just means people are used to settling.
