That $90 'professional' pie cutter was a total scam for me
Bought a fancy steel pie cutter with a wooden handle last spring at a trade show in Portland, thought it would make my crust edges look perfect. Thing dulled after maybe 30 pies and now it just smashes the dough instead of slicing clean. Has anyone found a cutter under $40 that actually holds an edge for more than a few months?
Does anyone actually own a pie cutter that lasts, or is that just a myth we all keep falling for? I bought a "hand forged" one at a farmers market a couple years back and felt like a real pro for about two months. Then it started crushing my crusts like they owed it money. My pies looked like they got in a fight and lost. At this point I just use a butter knife and save the fancy tools for looking pretty in the drawer.
