That time my sourdough starter escaped the jar and painted my kitchen ceiling

I was trying to feed my starter last Tuesday morning before work, and I got distracted by a package delivery at the door. I left the jar open on the counter with the lid sitting next to it. When I came back maybe 10 minutes later, the thing had somehow bubbled up and shot a glob of sticky goo clear up to the ceiling near the light fixture. It made this weird plopping sound as it dripped down onto my stovetop and floor. I spent a good 45 minutes scrubbing dried sourdough off the ceiling tile with a sponge on a broom handle. Learned that my starter is way more active in humid summer weather than I gave it credit for. Has anyone else had a starter go rogue like this or am I just the unluckiest baker in Austin?
