The spoon trick my grandma used finally clicked for me

I kept overproofing my sourdough every single Friday for like 2 months, then I remembered she'd always poke the dough and watch how fast it bounced back, so I tried it with a timer and 45 seconds was my magic number. Has anyone else gone back to an old-school method after fighting with gadgets and apps for way too long?

That timing thing is such a game changer, honestly. I fought with a Bluetooth thermometer and a humidity sensor for months before my dad told me to just watch the dough, not the app. Turns out my kitchen is way colder than the average recipe assumes, so the gadgets were just lying to me the whole time. The finger poke is basically free and it never needs a firmware update. I still use tools for other stuff, but now it's like a backup, not the main way.
