Heard someone in my book club call 'The Goldfinch' overwritten and I had to bite my tongue
We were doing our monthly meeting at the cafe on Elm Street and this new member, Sarah, said Tartt needed an editor because the story dragged at 700 pages. I get that it's long, but I thought the whole point of a novel is to build those details. Has anyone else had a book club debate where you totally disagreed with the majority?

Ha elizabethn56 nailed it, our group once nearly came to blows over whether Moby Dick was too long.

Oh now, I wouldn't say Moby Dick is too long, but people sometimes mix that up with Moby-Dick - the hyphen actually does matter for the title.
