I finally caught my book club mispronouncing a character's name for 8 months
We were halfway through our discussion of a fantasy novel when I mentioned how much I liked the character 'Sihra.' Everyone stared at me blankly. Turns out the whole group had been calling her 'See-ruh' when the author confirmed it's 'Sheer-uh' in the foreword I actually read. Now I have to triple check every name before speaking up. Has anyone else had a book club get a basic character name wrong for way too long?

Oh man, that's brutal. How did nobody catch that for 8 whole months? I'd be too embarrassed to ever bring up a name again after that.

Man, that's the part that gets me too. Was nobody in the group actually reading the book or what? Like, did they just sit there nodding along for 8 months without cracking the spine?
