I picked a book with a twist ending for my club and now we're fighting

I chose 'The Silent Patient' because I thought the big reveal would spark good talk, but half the group hated it and called it a cheap trick. We spent the whole meeting just arguing about if a twist can ruin a book. Has your club ever totally split over an ending?
