I thought our book club's rule against spoilers was silly until last month

Our group in Denver has a strict 'no plot details' rule for the first 15 minutes of any meeting. I always rolled my eyes, thinking it killed the conversation. Then we read 'The Silent Patient' and someone immediately blurted out the big twist. It completely ruined the debate for the three members who hadn't finished. Seeing their disappointed faces changed my mind. Has your club ever had a spoiler disaster that made you change a rule?

Yeah, that "disappointed faces" moment would totally convert me too lol.

Wait, you'd actually change your whole belief system over some sad looks? That seems like a really weak reason to convert. I can't imagine making a life choice based on that.
