I used to roll my eyes at people who re-read books

My book club just finished 'The House in the Cerulean Sea' for the third time in two years, and I finally get it. The second read caught details about the children's backstories I completely missed the first time. Has anyone else changed their mind about re-reading after giving it a fair shot?

Hits different the second time just like rewatching a movie you fell asleep through.

Its not about being bored and needing new stuff, its about catching what you were too distracted to see before. I used to be one of those eye-rollers too, thinking why waste time on the same words when theres a million books out there. But then I picked up 'The Road' again after a few years and realized I had totally missed how much the dad was actually falling apart inside during the first read. Its like the book becomes a different thing when you already know the ending and can focus on the little clues and character stuff instead of just plowing through to see what happens. Youre not wrong for changing your mind, its pretty common once you give it a real chance.
