My book club spent $50 on a fancy edition and nobody finished it

Last month I convinced our group to buy a special hardcover of 'The House in the Cerulean Sea' for our monthly pick. It was $50 with shipping and we split it six ways so like $8 each. Three people never even opened it and two others said they got bored by chapter 4. Now we're stuck with this pretty book nobody wants and I'm not sure if I should bring it up at our next meeting. Anyone else had a group buy go totally wrong like this?
