Pro tip: I found a weird fact about the first book club in America

I was reading an old article from the Boston Public Library and learned the first recorded women's book club in the U.S. started in 1634. It was called the 'Female Society of Boston for the Promotion of Christianity Among the Indians' and they met to discuss religious texts. I always figured book clubs were a much newer thing. Has anyone else stumbled on a surprising origin story for a club they're in?

That's a wild origin story for a book club.

Sounds like a pretty intense book club.

Wondering if @park.robin's book club ever reads the same book twice... like to see how different life stages change what you get from it.
