Sorting my spice rack turned into a big talk about book pacing

I lined up all my spices by how often I use them, and it hit me that some novels drag in the middle. My book club spent last meeting arguing if slow parts are needed or just filler.

My neighbor has this decorative fern that just... exists. It doesn't die, but it sure doesn't grow either. It's been the same sad size for three years, just taking up space on her patio. Makes your rosemary sound like a real overachiever by comparison. At least you can cook with yours.
