Unpopular opinion: our club picked the 700 page epic over the 200 page novella and I regret my vote
Two months ago our club in Sacramento had to pick between two books for the summer read. Option A was a slim 180 page novel I could finish in a weekend. Option B was a 720 page saga that everyone swore was life changing. I voted for the big one because I didn't want to look lazy. That was 11 weeks ago and we still meet every Tuesday to talk about it. Three people quit in August and two more just stopped showing up. Last week only four of us made it and half the talk was about how far behind everyone was. Next time I'm voting for the short book and I don't care who judges me. Has your club ever picked a doorstop and regretted it?
