Called out a customer for cutting in front of 8 people at the deli counter in Boston

I was at Market Basket in Somerville last Tuesday, waiting my turn at the deli, and this woman just walks up and starts ordering pastrami like nobody else existed. I said loud enough for the whole line to hear, "Hey, there's like 8 of us here, we all got places to be." She got all red-faced and muttered something about being in a rush, but the guy behind the counter just pointed to the sign that says take a number. She walked off without her pastrami. Anyone ever call someone out in public and have it backfire instead?

I was at a Shaw's in Revere last month and this guy tried to skip me at the seafood counter while I was waiting for a pound of shrimp. I just looked right at him and said "Hey man, I'm next actually" with a flat tone, not angry or anything. The fish guy stopped what he was doing and said "She was here first" and the guy just shrugged and walked away without saying anything. Sometimes being direct without yelling works better than making a scene.

Honestly, Market Basket in Somerville is a war zone during rush hour, you probably just embarrassed yourself and wasted everyone's time for a power trip.

I dunno @hugo_bennett, a war zone seems a little dramatic for a grocery store. People have bad days and maybe that guy was in the wrong, but I've seen way worse at the Home Depot on a Saturday morning. Is it really worth getting this worked up over a shopping cart and a few stressed out people grabbing milk? Seems like everyone could use a deep breath and a reminder it's just groceries, not a life or death situation.
