I walked out of my sister's wedding at 9pm sharp and half the family still won't speak to me
Two years ago at her reception in Boise, the speeches kept going for 90 minutes past schedule and the bride never got a single dance with our dad, so I stood up mid-toast and left. Three aunts called it the rudest thing they had seen in 40 years, but my sister texted me the next morning saying she wished she had the guts to do the same. Part of me says you sit through it because the day is not about you, and part of me says sitting there was agreeing to watch her get steamrolled. Where is the line between being rude and refusing to go along with something that is clearly off, and would you have stayed for the cake?
