My $40 trash can lid broke after 3 days
Bought a cheap touchless trash can from a discount store in Austin. Sensor worked twice then just died. Lid jammed open. Had to tape a paper towel over the sensor to stop the beeping. Anyone else get burned by those budget electronic bins in your kitchen?

Was it the sensor that went bad or did the lid physically get stuck? I had one of those cheap bins where the motor just stripped its own gears after a week, made this awful grinding noise every time something got near it. My wife finally threw it in the garage and we went back to a regular step can. Did yours at least still open with the button on top or was it completely dead?

Did you try hitting it with a broom handle? That usually fixes my stuff for about five minutes until I give up and buy a new one.

That sensor thing is way overblown, mine worked fine for two years before the battery died.
