My friend told me my 'honesty' was just being rude at a party
We were at a birthday thing in Austin last month and I told a guy his new tattoo looked cheap. My friend pulled me aside later and said, 'You think you're just being real, but you're just hurting people for no reason.' That hit me hard. I always thought not sugarcoating things was a good trait. For the past three weeks, I've tried asking myself 'is this helpful?' before I speak. It's way harder than I thought. Has anyone else had to relearn how to be honest without being a jerk?

Yeah that was me at the Austin show, I got way too into it and lost my voice for like three days. I mean, the band played for almost two hours straight. I still have the wristband on my bag, it's a whole thing. My friends won't let me forget how loud I was singing.

Oh man, that had to be @benc53. I saw a video from that night and you could hear one guy yelling the wrong lyrics over everything. The dedication to keep that wristband is something else, like a badge of honor for screaming your head off.
