Spent 28 years stirring coffee the wrong way, my diner waitress in South Carolina caught it
I always spun the spoon clockwise, figured that was just how it worked. Waitress named Dee watched me do it and laughed, said I was working against the swirl and making the cream take twice as long to blend in. She did one counter-clockwise stir on her finger and you could see the coffee go light almost instantly. Now I feel dumb every single morning at a truck stop when I catch my old habit sneaking back in. Anyone else get corrected on something tiny like this and can't unsee it?
Wait, she stirred it with her finger? Like right in your coffee? That's what's throwing me off here, not even the clockwise thing. I'm sitting here trying to picture a waitress dunking a bare finger in a customer's cup and just handing it back like that's normal. The swirl science part I can buy, but the finger thing has me stuck.
