The day I realized I'd been holding a pencil wrong for 30 years

Last Tuesday my 8-year-old nephew watched me write a grocery list and goes "why do you hold it like a caveman?" Turns out I've been death-gripping it with my thumb wrapped around the fingers since kindergarten. My hand doesn't cramp up anymore after switching to his method.

Bet your teachers never bothered to correct it either.

Four teachers in a row never once corrected it? That's just... wow. I'm genuinely kind of shocked nobody caught that.

yeah but like... do you think the teachers even noticed and just decided it wasn't worth their time? because i had a teacher in middle school who would mark me down for not using a comma before "and" in a list, but never said a thing about my friend's constant "your" vs "you're" mix-ups. feels kinda selective, you know? like they pick and choose what battles to fight based on who's in the class or how much grading energy they have left.
