The self-checkout handshake I refused to learn for 5 years
I used to stand at self-checkout with my arms crossed, glaring at the screen until a worker came over to scan my items. Took me 5 years to realize the machine was waiting for ME to say 'I'm done' by pressing a button labeled 'Finish'. A 16-year-old cashier in St. Louis watched me do this for 3 minutes and finally asked if I was okay. Now I just tap it, grab my receipt, and walk out like a normal human. Anyone else been stuck in a weird anti-tech standoff with a machine that was never actually the enemy?

My coworker once yelled at a gas pump for a solid minute before realizing he forgot to swipe his card.
