Can we talk about the guy at AutoZone who told me my brake pads were fine when they were metal on metal?
I stopped by the AutoZone on 5th in Muncie last Tuesday because my front end was grinding every time I braked. The guy behind the counter took one look, didn't even pull the wheel, and told me the pads had "plenty of life left" and I was just hearing road noise. I took it to my regular shop two days later and the mechanic showed me the pads were down to the backing plate, one rotor was gouged, and the whole job ran me $410 instead of the $90 it would have cost a week earlier. I keep thinking about how fast he brushed me off and whether he actually looked or just wanted me out of there. Has anyone else been told something was fine when it clearly was not?
