DAE blow $600 on a 'flip' course that taught me nothing I couldn't get free at the library
Six months ago I paid $600 for an online course about flipping thrift store finds. The guy promised $2,000 a month part time and showed screenshots of his 'sales.' What he actually gave me was 14 videos of him walking around a Goodwill in Phoenix pointing at stuff. The 'secret' was buying anything with a brand name and listing it on eBay, which I could have figured out for free. I made back $85 total and spent 40 hours driving to stores around Tucson. I want to be honest here because nobody warned me: the money in these courses comes from selling the course, not from flipping. So what's the dumbest thing you've dropped real cash on that you regret?
I watched a YouTube video where a guy broke down one of those course seller's actual income and it was like 90% from course sales and only 10% from flipping. The math is brutal when you see it laid out. My own dumb purchase was a $400 "dropshipping masterclass" that was basically just him reading the Shopify help page out loud. I feel you on the 40 hours of driving too, that gas money alone eats whatever profit you might make.
