Dropped $200 on a meal delivery service and the portions were a joke

I signed up for HelloFresh thinking it would save me time shopping and cooking. First box showed up with chicken thighs smaller than my palm and a sad sprig of rosemary for $22 a meal. After three deliveries I canceled and went back to buying in bulk at Costco in Phoenix. Has anybody else gotten ripped off by those pre-portioned kits?

You say "a sad sprig of rosemary" like that's a bad thing, but honestly I feel like the complaints about HelloFresh are overblown. I'm not saying it's perfect, but $22 a meal is what you pay for convenience and not having to think about what's for dinner. Your comment about buying in bulk at Costco makes sense for you, but not everyone in Phoenix has the time or energy to do a big Costco run and meal prep for the week. I used it for a few months and the portions were fine for me, maybe you just needed to pick better meal options because some of their recipes are definitely more filling than others. Plus you can always add a side or some extra veggies from the grocery store to stretch it out.

My friend tried HelloFresh and got a recipe that called for "one clove of garlic" and I still tease them about it because who does that. You might as well just hand me a single french fry and call it dinner.
