Hit 200 subs on YouTube last night. Not a big number but it hit different.
Been posting guitar covers for about 8 months now. Nothing fancy, just me in my living room with a cheap interface. Got stuck at 47 subs for like 3 months straight. Figured nobody cared. Then last week I did a cover of a song nobody asked for. A cover of that old 'Wuthering Heights' tune. Woke up yesterday and had 201 subs. Still no clue how it happened. Most of the comments are in a language I don't even understand. Anyone else have a random milestone come out of nowhere like that?

Used to think the algorithm was just luck or whatever. Totally random and unfair. But that Wuthering Heights thing changed my mind. It's like the algorithm finally found your people. Maybe not the folks who speak English. But they're your people. 200 subs is real, man. Enjoy it.

Wow yeah I've been through this exact thing lmao. The algorithm is weird like that - sometimes it just decides you're gonna connect with a random niche audience and that's your lane for a while. My advice? Lean into it hard. Post more stuff that speaks to that specific group even if it feels small. Reply to every comment they leave, ask them what they wanna see next. That 200 is way more valuable than 2000 random followers who don't care. Before you know it those people will be sharing your stuff everywhere and the algorithm will pick up on it again.

Do you think the algorithm is actually getting smarter and figuring out what kind of content you're naturally good at, or is it just a lucky coincidence that it happened to push your stuff to the right group at the right time? I've always wondered if it learns from your engagement patterns more than we realize, like it knows who's actually gonna stick around and comment versus just scroll past. Curious if you've noticed any other weird algorithm quirks that ended up working in your favor like this.
