My coworker told me my presentation was boring and it actually helped

We were in the break room after a team meeting in Chicago last month, and she just said 'look, your slides put me to sleep, you need more pictures or something.' I went back and cut half the text, added a few memes, and the next one went way better. Has anyone else had a blunt comment that actually improved their work?

How many times have we sat through a meeting where everyone is just too polite to say the slides are boring? That kind of honest talk is so rare. It cuts through all the fluffy talk and gets to what actually matters. We all waste so much time on stuff that doesn't work because nobody speaks up. More people should have the guts to say it straight like that. It's the only way anything gets better for real.
