My friend Mark told me I was being fake at a coffee shop in Denver last year

We were catching up and I was giving the usual 'everything's great' talk about my job. He just looked at me and said, 'Dude, you sound like a press release, stop it.' It was in the middle of a crowded place and it totally cut through the noise. Has anyone else had a friend call them out on their own BS in a way that actually helped?

Yeah the "press release" line hits home. My old roommate used to say I talked like a company FAQ page whenever I was stressed. He'd just go "FAQ mode" and it was the perfect way to snap me out of it.
