My garage door opener's remote took a full weekend to reprogram

I had to reset the whole system after a power outage, and the manual's steps just would not work no matter how many times I tried them. I finally got it by holding the learn button for a weirdly long time, like 30 seconds, which was nowhere in the instructions. Has anyone else had a simple fix take way longer because the guide was wrong?

Ugh, don't you hate that? I had the same thing happen with my old car's key fob... the manual said to turn the key on and off three times, but it only worked if I did it super fast, like in two seconds. Totally missing from the steps.

Honestly that sounds more like a minor annoyance than a real problem.

Yeah that's super frustrating when the manual just lies to you. I had the same problem with my thermostat once, the instructions said to hold the button for 5 seconds but it actually needed a full 15 second hold before it would even blink. Took me an hour of trying the wrong steps over and over before I just held it down out of pure frustration and it finally worked. Makes you wonder who writes those manuals sometimes, like they never actually tested the steps themselves. Glad you eventually got yours sorted too.
