My neighbor in Toledo said I was being cheap for not hiring movers, and I finally get why he's wrong
I ran into my neighbor Ray while hauling boxes out of my truck last month, and he flat out asked why I didn't just pay someone to do it for $400. I got defensive at first, but then it hit me that he wasn't judging my wallet, he was judging how I spend my Saturday. I did the math and I saved $385 doing it myself over 6 hours, which works out to about $64 an hour of my own time. Is that actually a bad trade, or do people just say that so they don't feel bad about hiring out every little thing?
