PSA: That $200 'professional' meat thermometer I bought was a total dud
I dropped $200 on a Thermapen ONE after seeing all the hype from BBQ guys online. Used it for a brisket last Sunday and it gave me readings 15 degrees off compared to my old $15 one. Had to pull the meat out and test it in boiling water to confirm it was junk. Anyone else get burned by overpriced gear that didn't deliver?

That $200 'professional' meat thermometer I bought" sounds exactly like the Thermapen ONE, tbh. I read a comparison online where someone tested it against a cheap instant read and the expensive one was off by 8 degrees in ice water. Honestly, seems like a lot of folks are having the same issue, maybe they rushed a batch out the door.

Kind of funny how nobody's pointing out that maybe the cheap one's been lying to them for years and they just got used to it... happens all the time with old gear that drifts out of spec.
